I'm liking this Syntech ammo because it's fully jacked with lead-free primers, because it claims to reduce heat and friction in the barrel, and because it does seem to match the power (or at least the recoil) of the HST defensive ammo.

Hello, Donald! If by powdery you mean frangible (i.e. disintegrates on contact), Syntech ammo doesn't qualify. This round's bullet is comprised of a solid lead core with a polymer jacket, and should have a terminal effect equivalent to that of a classic,
