This is Winchester’s own M80 ammo, the military’s go-to stuff for range and sniper training. Its bullet is actually a couple grains heavier than the standard 147 grains, but with its muzzle velocity of 2,790 fps you won’t experience any discernible difference in ballistic performance.

The M80 bullet is a true full metal jacket, with a lead core and concentric copper alloy jacket that aren’t fashioned to expand inside game. There are hundreds of better options available for hunting. There are better 7.62x51 rounds for personal protection as well, but please don’t rule this ammo out for home defense. It’s 7.62x51 – it really doesn’t do human-sized threats any favors.

This isn’t old military surplus. It’s non-corrosive new production ammo, gentle on a rifle’s chamber and bore before it becomes reloadable.
